Pressotherapy
A non-invasive compression session that supports lymphatic and venous circulation – designed to reduce leg heaviness and fluid retention, support recovery, and help you feel lighter and less “swollen” after long days or periods of low movement.
About the Therapy
Pressotherapy is an equipment-based pneumatic compression session (also known as intermittent pneumatic compression). It uses a special multi-chamber suit that inflates and deflates to support fluid movement in the legs and improve circulation dynamics – similar to how your “muscle pump” works during walking.
This therapy is commonly used as part of care for limb swelling related to venous and lymphatic circulation, and it can be helpful when you experience:
- persistent leg heaviness, especially after sitting or standing for long periods
- mild to moderate swelling / fluid retention in the lower limbs
- a feeling of “tightness” in tissues that builds through the day
- recovery support after training (when appropriate for your health status)
This is not a weight-loss procedure and it doesn’t replace medical treatment when swelling has a medical cause. What it can do, is support circulation and help reduce the feeling and the visible signs of swelling – with best results typically seen when used consistently and as part of an overall plan.
Who it’s for:
- Those who feel leg heaviness, “puffiness,” or swelling after long days sitting/standing
- Those who want non-invasive recovery support (training, travel, lifestyle load)
- Those with circulation-related swelling who need a guided, conservative option

Key Benefits
- Helps reduce the feeling of leg heaviness and fluid “stagnation”
- Supports lymphatic and venous circulation dynamics
- Supports swelling management as part of a broader plan
- Promotes deep relaxation through rhythmic, controlled compression
- Supports oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues and improves immune system function
- Facilitates metabolic waste clearance and detoxification
- Assists in thermoregulation, fluid balance, and excretion of certain waste compounds through the skin
What happens during your session
Session Duration: 30–45 minutes
Before Your Session:
- Brief screening: health history, circulation risks, and your goal for the session
- We explain sensations to expect (pressure, rhythmic compression, warmth if used)
- You’ll be advised on clothing (light, comfortable) and hydration
During Your Session:
- Step 1: You’ll lie down comfortably in a private room while the specialist helps you into the compression suit.
- Step 2: The device inflates and deflates suit chambers in sequence. This creates gentle, wave-like pressure up the limb – designed to mimic the natural “pump” action of movement.
- Step 3: Pressure settings are adjusted to your comfort and clinical context. You can communicate throughout; we can pause or modify intensity at any point.
After Your Session:
- Brief rest period if needed
- Post-session guidelines (movement, hydration, what’s normal to feel)
- Recommendation for follow-up sessions based on your goals (many clients benefit from 3-6 sessions)

Safety Standards
Medical-Grade Equipment
We use a professional pneumatic compression system with controlled pressure settings and supervised application.
Rigorous Hygiene Protocols
- Private treatment room
- Garments and contact surfaces are cleaned and disinfected between clients
- Session parameters selected and monitored by the specialist
Contraindications
Pressotherapy (pneumatic compression) is safe for many people, but it is NOT recommended if you have, or may have:
- Acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or suspected clot
- Decompensated / uncontrolled heart failure or pulmonary oedema
- Severe peripheral arterial disease (significantly reduced arterial circulation)
- Acute skin infection / cellulitis or open, untreated skin lesions in the treated area
- Any condition where your clinician has advised against increasing venous/lymphatic return
If you’re unsure, we’ll clarify this during your consultation and recommend the safest option for your case.
